Statement
Em paradoxo, me vejo negando a maior característica do gênero.
[At this moment, I understand my artistic practice as centered on two fundamental elements: the appropriation of the past and the intimate experience of the present.
I acknowledge the past as a narrative constructed by the present. I acknowledge that discussing it is essential as a way to understand the questions and tensions we navigate today. I acknowledge that facing it is like looking into a mirror.
The past becomes the present not only through direct appropriations — such as tapestries and other objects — but also through a system of theft and transfer of once-represented gestures onto my own body, in an exercise of self-portraiture.
Paradoxically, I find myself denying the genre’s most defining trait. In its place: feet, legs, and my own body in constant repetition. Each person is the greatest expression of present they know, for the act of experiencing our inner world is the only truly instantaneous experience. Part biography, part fiction, it is through a sphere of intimate proximity that I express myself.
Visual awe is a central mechanism, but I must remind you: nothing here is aesthetic reiteration — everything is subversion and irony.]
